Robitussin cough syrup sold nationwide recalled due to contamination

The product is unlikely to cause any issues for people who are not immunocompromised, but infections in immunocompromised individuals could be life-threatening.

WASHINGTON — Two types of Robitussin cough syrup have been recalled because of microbial contamination that could be dangerous for people who are immunocompromised or medically at-risk.

Eight lots of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult are included in the nationwide recall. 

The tainted product is unlikely to cause any issues for people who are not immunocompromised, but infections in immunocompromised individuals could be severe or life-threatening, global health company Haleon said. 

There have been no adverse reactions reported related to the recall, according to an FDA notice. Consumers who have a product with an affected lot number should stop using it immediately and consult a physician or health care provider if they have experienced any problems. 

The following types of cough syrup are included in the recall:

  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 4oz
    • Lot number T10810
    • Expiration date: October 31, 2025
  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 8oz
    • Lot numbers T08730, T08731, T08732, T08733
    • Expiration date: May 31, 2025
  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 8oz
    • Lot number T10808
    • Expiration date: September 30, 2025
  • Robitussin Honey CF Max NT Adult 8oz
    • Lot numbers T08740, T08742
    • Expiration date: June 30, 2026

Haleon is voluntarily recalling eight lots of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult.

Customers and distributors are being contacted directly with return instructions for recalled products, Haleon said. Those with questions can call the company at (800) 245-1040 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time, or email mystory.us@haleon.com.
