PARAMUS, N.J. — Popular baby supplies retailer Buybuy Baby is reopening nearly a dozen stores in five states after it shuttered all of its locations last summer amid the bankruptcy of its parent company, Bed Bath & Beyond.
After Bed Bath & Beyond filed for bankruptcy protection in April, all 115 Buybuy Baby stores were closed and liquidated.
But 11 stores, all in the northeastern U.S., will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 18. There are locations reopening in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Virginia. The company will also be relaunching its online store.
After the bankruptcy, a New Jersey-based baby retailer and longtime supplier to Buybuy Baby purchased the company's intellectual property and the rights to several leases at shuttered stores, with plans to reopen them.
Former parent company Bed Bath & Beyond was purchased by Overstock earlier this year. Buybuy Baby was not included in that sale.
