MORRISTOWN, Tenn. — The Morristown Police Department welcomed officers Jeff Coyne and Zach Jones back after their deployments.
Officer Jeff Coyne left his home in Morristown in April 2018 to begin his training at Fort Irwin, California for Operation Atlantic Resolve.
After his training was complete, Coyne performed Railhead Operations to stage equipment for the operation in Bemowo Piskie, Poland where his unit deployed in July 2018.
Coyne serves as First Lieutenant of Gunslinger Troop, a tanker troop, part of the 278th Armored Calvary Regiment of the Army National Guard.
Officer Coyne is a Morristown native. He joined the Army Reserves in 2011 and transitioned to the Army National Guard in 2015. Serving as a First Lieutenant for the 278th, Coyne is a Troop Executive Officer and also an Armor Officer. He has served with the MPD since November 2016.
While Officer Coyne resumed his duties with the MPD on July 3, he has been back in the states for a few weeks.
“I’m glad to be home with family and back serving the citizens of Morristown,” Coyne said.
Last month, Morristown Police Department Officer Zach Jones resumed his law enforcement duties after serving in the same operation with a different troop.
“We are very pleased to have these officers back with us. We understand the important role they have in protection of our country and are glad to support their efforts,” Morristown Police Chief Roger Overholt said.
