Zoo Knoxville's baby red wolf pup officially has a name.
The zoo asked the community to help pick something fitting for the feisty pup and they overwhelming picked Waya, which is the Cherokee word for wolf.
Around 5,000 votes were submitted and Waya received nearly 50 percent of the vote, according to Zoo Knoxville Director of Communications Tina Rolen.
The little guy is just over a month old and is just beginning to explore his den under the watchful eye of his parents, Saaron and Sunny.
The six-pound pup was the first critically endangered red wolf pup born at the zoo in 23 years. His keepers say he is healthy and thriving, and now growls and barks when they get too close.
