KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Planet Predator was Zoo Knoxville's "most engaging exhibit yet," full of prehistoric predators, including dinosaurs and other mysterious animals of the past. However, time is running out for prehistoric family fun, the event is set to come to a close after Halloween night.
"Transporting guests back in time to eras long past, Planet Predator features an array of animatronic predators from the ancient world," the zoo said. "From the towering Giganotosaurus to the slithering 40-foot-long Titanoboa, this exhibit introduces guests to some of the most ferocious creatures to ever roam the Earth."
The exhibit features an Ice Age-themed area with a sabretooth tiger and a dire wolf.
"Or venture into the depths of ancient seas to encounter the monstrous sea scorpion," the zoo said.
The exhibit also features the ever-famous Megalodon, one of the largest predators ever recorded, reaching lengths up to 70 feet long.
Planet Predator also has 16 different species of birds, mammals and dinosaurs with visitors gaining a glimpse into how these prehistoric animals survived and hunted their food.
"As visitors marvel at the lifelike animatronics and learn about the fascinating behaviors and habitats of these ancient predators, they will gain a deeper appreciation of how we can preserve our natural world today," Zoo Knoxville said.
The exhibit opened to the public in May and will run through Oct. 31. According to the zoo, Predator Planet is included with a general admission ticket and is free for Zoo Knoxville members.
"Embark on a captivating walk-through journey amidst primal landscapes, encountering some of the most thrilling and awe-inspiring creatures from millions of years ago," the zoo said.
