2-year-old attacked by dogs in Whitley County, KY; Animal Control captures five dogs responsible for the attack

The Whitley Co. Fiscal Court asked people not to shoot at random dogs they think could be linked to the attack and to especially not shoot at dogs fenced in a yard.

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. — The Whitley County Fiscal Court in Kentucky said on Monday that four dogs were captured after a 2-year-old just four days shy of his third birthday was reported to have been attacked in the Jonny Hollow area of Rockholds.

The court said on social media that Animal Control crews were still searching for a fifth dog as of around 4:20 p.m. It said the four captured dogs seemed to be the most aggressive of the pack.

Authorities said the child was attacked at a home on Johnny Hollow Road and five of the dogs were associated with the residences. They also said all dogs associated with the attack were located, and no charges are expected.

Originally, the court said there appeared to be a pack of around ten dogs, "with possible coyote involvement." They said if people see the dogs, they should not approach and instead should call 911.

The court said the 2-year-old child was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after the dog attack Monday morning. It also said the child was in stable condition as of around 4:20 p.m. on Monday.
