KNOX COUNTY, Tenn — A neighbor in West Knox County was working to extinguish a house fire when first responders arrived Saturday morning, according to Rural Metro Fire (RMF).

The department says it responded to a report of a structure fire in the 1100 block of Albany Road around 6 a.m. Once on scene, RMF crews put out the rest of the fire.

"Damage was held to minimal thanks to the work of this neighbor who also alerted the occupants who were asleep," a department spokesperson said in a statement.
