WBIR partnered with the Sertoma Center on Friday and Saturday for a Labor of Love project that involved building a handicapped accessible duplex for people with disabilities.
The project is benefiting people who are served by the Sertoma Center.
Volunteers came out to help with light construction tasks and to work hospitality areas for other workers. Many of the volunteers were needed to help "Raise the Roof" and put a 4,000 square foot duplex under a roof by the end of the day.
"We're going to put a roof on, we're going to put siding on," said Mike Stevens, a Labor of Love builder. "We have the HVAC system. We're really reaching out to the community that does this for a living to come out and help us out over the next three months."
The Home Builders Association of Knoxville and the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors were also partners in the effort.
