KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A report in August ranked Tennessee 42 for voter registration in 2022, that report came from "Think Tennessee," a nonpartisan organization.
Election commission officials said voting registration has picked up in the last month, with around 310,000 people registered to vote in Knox County. Those officials believe the number could be up to 315,000 registered voters by the November election.
A drive was held on Tuesday at Carson Newman University in Jefferson City, with Secretary of State Trey Hargett in attendance. He encouraged any eligible Tennessean to register to vote, with those not currently registered only having until Oct. 7 to do so.
Early voting for the presidential election will run from Oct. 16 to Oct. 31, with Election Day being held on November 5.
