Vol fans storm Neyland and tear down the goalposts again after defeating Alabama

The Vols racked up a sweet victory against Alabama. UTPD asked the fans not to take the goalposts out of Neyland Stadium this time.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The cigars are lit, the fans are pumped, and the goalposts... are down! Tennessee took down Alabama on the Third Saturday in October, final score 24-17, and fans in Neyland Stadium responded by storming the field.

The victory may not have been as historic as the 2022 win that broke the drought against Alabama, but the tense atmosphere that was built up Saturday during the first half as Tennessee's offense stalled was completely blown away in the second half when the Vols came roaring back.

After Tennessee beat the Crimson Tide, fans hopped out of the stands and onto the field to help celebrate. And just like in 2022, the goalposts came tumbling down.

"While we are thrilled with a victory over Alabama... we would greatly appreciate the goalposts NOT leaving the stadium. Please make your way out of the stadium... safely," University of Tennessee Police said.

Tennessee Football said the scene after the big win was "college football at its best."

No word yet if the posts made it outside the stadium, but a large group of fans was seen heading down to the river to celebrate after the game. If the fans complied with UTPD's request, then these new goalposts that UT installed almost exactly two years ago might not disappear in the river again.
