4 people in custody after chase, carjacking and barricade situation

The driver of the blue Audi later got out of the car near 107th Avenue and Van Buren Steet and carjacked a white pickup truck.

PHOENIX - Multiple suspects are in custody after a police chase that traveled across central, west and north Phoenix Tuesday afternoon.

The chase began when police spotted a blue Audi near 24th Street and Indian School Road Tuesday. Police said they have been searching for the car for weeks after it was taken in an armed robbery and used in a commercial burglary.

The Audi and its occupants made its way to the west Valley shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Aerial footage showed a passenger exit the vehicle and run on foot in an Avondale apartment complex in the middle of the pursuit. Police believed he may have been armed with a "long gun."

The suspect barricaded himself in an apartment near 4th Street and Harrison Drive in Avondale. Police eventually arrested the suspect around 5 p.m.

The Audi continued to flee and the driver later got out of the car near 107th Avenue and Van Buren Street. He carjacked a white pickup truck from a woman who was seen running from the intersection. Police took a man and woman who were still in the Audi into custody.

The suspect continued to flee in the truck and entered the I-10.

After avoiding stop sticks and spike strips, the driver of the white pickup stopped driving and ran into an apartment near 17th Avenue and Mountain View Road around 3:30 p.m. Police were quick to take him into custody.

According to police, the driver ran into his parent’s apartment who were startled when he opened the door.
