UT loses annual blood drive battle against Florida

Vol fans fell a little short this year in the annual blood battle between UT and UF.

Knoxville — Let's hope Tennessee has better luck on the football field.

The Vols lost this year's annual UT versus Florida Blood drive. Tennessee fans donated 1,292 pints of blood, compared to 1,340 from Florida fans.

Florida last defeated the Vols in the blood drive battle in 2008.

All blood donated through MEDIC stays with local partner hospitals, so really, everyone is a winner!

Original story

Monday is the kickoff of the annual UT versus Florida Blood drive, according to a press release from MEDIC.

Fans in East Tennessee will be competing against Gator fans in Gainesville to which fan base can donate the most blood. The Vols have not lost this competition since 2008... so step up and meet that goal again this year, East Tennessee!

MEDIC is hosting blood drives in 15 East Tennessee counties. The week-long competition is a partnership between MEDIC Regional Blood Center and LifeSouth Blood Center. Both organizations provide lifesaving blood to local hospitals in their respective communities.
