UT hosts annual homecoming parade with VFL Al Wilson as Grand Marshal

The parade started in front of Fraternity Park and went down Volunteer Boulevard to Neyland Stadium.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee community packed Volunteer Boulevard on Friday for the school's annual homecoming parade. It began in front of Fraternity Park and participants marched to Neyland Stadium.

This year, Al Wilson was honored as the Grand Marshal. He played for the Vols before helping lead the team to the 1998 national championship. He became the 21st player in school history to join the College Football Hall of Fame and was a first-round pick by the Denver Broncos in the 1999 NFL Draft.

He led the parade towards Circle Park, where judges evaluated the various floats students and campus community members prepared. Before the parade, there was also a "Rocky Top Rally" beside the Torchbearer with activities meant to get people excited about the parade.

On Saturday, the homecoming celebrations cap off with a Vols game against the Connecticut Huskies, starting at 12 p.m. in Neyland Stadium.
