UT Gardens to hold 'Howl-O-Ween Pooch Parade and Expo' on Sunday

According to the website, the event will be held rain or shine on Oct. 27.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee Gardens is inviting everyone along with their pets to a scary fun event for four-legged friends.

The 11th annual "Howl-o-Ween Pooch Parade and Expo" is set to kick off on Sunday at 1 p.m. EDT. Area pet rescue groups and businesses will set up at the gardens for the event, which is a partnership between the gardens and UT College of Veterinary Medicine.

"We will be hosting a pet food drive to benefit Companion Animal Initiative of Tennessee (CAIT), which works to improve the lives of companion animals and reduce the homeless pet population in Tennessee by promoting humane education and spay/neuter initiatives," the gardens said on its website.

The event is completely free to attend with a 3 p.m. pet parade costume contest also set for the event.

"So we have 4 categories, DIY, bad to the bone--scary, pup culture if you want your dog to come as Taylor Swift and funny bone if you just want to be humorous," said James Newburn, the UT Gardens managing director.

It is a $15 fee to register your dog for the pet parade, with the event set to officially end around 5 p.m. EDT. According to the website, the event will be held rain or shine on Oct. 27.
