UT Football player raises money, donations for Helene victims

Davis said he is from Bluff City and felt a need to help after an area close to him was hit so hard by the storm.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee offensive lineman Dayne Davis has raised $5,000 out of his $10,000 goal to help those struggling after Hurricane Helene brought historic flooding to East Tennessee.

Davis said he is from Bluff City and felt a need to help after an area close to him was hit so hard by the storm. He also said it was hard for him to talk about the devastation in the region, even mentioning his best friend's family farm was wiped away.

Davis posted to social media thanking everyone who donated to families in need. He also shared an image of supplies that had been donated.

Davis also said he planned to leave the GoFundMe open for another week, hoping to take another load to impacted communities next weekend.
