Sevier County deputies are still searching for two inmates that escaped from the Sevier County Jail early Monday morning.

Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals says at 12:30 a.m., security guards saw two inmates jump a perimeter fence on the outside of the jail. Those inmates have been identified as 34-year-old Clyde Lee Martin and 27-year-old Robert A. Sosa. Both are from Sevierville.

Corrections officers pursued the pair on foot, but the inmates were able to escape. Additional officers responded and a search was initiated. As of Monday afternoon, the search for the pair continues by members of the Sheriff's Office Special Operations Team, Sevierville Police Department, and the U.S. Marshal's Service Fugitive Task Force.

A couple walking in the area Sunday night was stopped by officers. They told them of the situation and suggested they leave.

“The first thing that went through my head is you don’t know how dangerous they are, you don’t know what happened,” Jamie Rajkowski said.

She and her husband, Nick, work second shift and always take their dogs walking late at night.

“I thank the cops for giving us that warning because you never know. It would have really stunk if we were walking the dogs and two inmates in their jump suits came running. I would have been scared,” she said.

Martin was being held on a $15,000 bond for theft over $10,000 and violation of probation. Sosa was being held on a $75,000 bond for assault, two counts of auto theft, aggravated burglary, evading arrest, and violation of probation.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the Sevier County Sheriff's Office at (865) 453-4668 or their local law enforcement agency.
