NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Fifteen-year-old Sebastian Rogers has been missing for almost five weeks. Since his disappearance, the community and authorities have actively searched for the teen.
The United Cajun Navy announced Friday they have called off its search for the missing teen after "increasing security concerns." According to a report from WSMV4 Nashville, UCN told them that the security concerns revolved around volunteers receiving death threats online and in person.
According to a social media post from the nonprofit, the decision was made Friday morning to pull back and regroup. They also told WSMV4 that this is the first time they have dealt with threats while helping with a search.
"This decision was not taken lightly is made with the safety of all volunteers in mind," UCN said. "We want to thank all the volunteers that planned to be out searching today. We are very grateful. We will continue to evaluate the situation and support ongoing local efforts in the mean time. This does not mean the search is over."
Rogers, who’s 15 years old and has autism, has been missing since Feb. 26.
