Wildlife officers began training to identify people who could be boating under the influence this week.
TWRA held a "wet lab" where they bring in volunteers who drink a certain amount of alcohol.
Officers then have to perform sobriety tests on them.
TWRA spokesperson Matt Cameron says they focus on people who are at a .06 or .07 alcohol level.
"We're getting those folks that are showing some signs of impairment when they're approaching the legal limit. That's the ones we need our officers to be able to identify and to be able to make a correct arrest decision" said Cameron.
Cameron says alcohol is the leading factor in fatal boating accidents.
