KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency reported one boating-related fatality over Memorial Day weekend.
The fatality happened at Watts Barr Reservoir when a 19-year-old jumped from a boat and did not come back up. Officials responded Saturday evening around 9 p.m. and found the body just after 2 a.m. on Sunday using a remote-operated vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.
There were also five injury incidents reported from across the state, according to TWRA.
As for property damage, eight incidents happened and five took place in Middle Tennessee.
According to TWRA, there have been eight boating fatalities this year so far.
TWRA wildlife officers made 13 BUI (boating under the influence) arrests. East Tennessee had six of the arrests, five were made in Middle Tennessee and two in West Tennessee, TWRA said.
TWRA also assisted several stranded boaters over the weekend.
