Two people died in a two-car Cocke County crash on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The vehicles collided on US Highway 321 just north of the intersection with Bogard Road.
According to a THP report, Ronnie Gibbs, 71, was driving his Cadillac on Highway 321. The passenger in his car said he passed out and she couldn't revive him.
The Cadillac then crossed the center line and struck 21-year-old Kristin Merritt, who was driving in the opposite direction.
Both Gibbs and Merritt died in the crash. The two children in the car with Merritt, ages 1 and 2, survived the wreck. Gibbs' passenger, Elaine Kelly, 63, was also hurt.
The crash initially closed the road, but it was cleared by the mid-afternoon.
