KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Valley Authority is working to make it easier to keep reservoirs clean over the summer by partnering with My Lake Guntersville to use two CD3 systems.
CD3 systems are waterless and give boats the tools needed to clean, drain and dry off after leaving the water. This step is essential in stopping the spread of invasive species, according to the TVA.
"It may not seem like a lot if you pull your boat up there and clean a few stems off there, but all it takes is one plant to get to another reservoir," TVA said.
To help prevent the spread of invasive species in East Tennessee's water systems, people can double-check that water species planted along the shoreline are native to the area. They can also make sure not to dump unwanted water garden plants into streams or rivers.
