JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol said no injuries were reported after a train hit a car in Jefferson County Monday night, at around 9:50 p.m.
According to a preliminary report, THP said a car approached a railroad crossing on Highway 11E and stopped because the crossing lights were on. However, the driver said she did not see a train and proceeded forward.
The report said when the vehicle was on the tracks, the train hit it on the passenger side and pushed it down the track into the eastbound travel lane.
The THP said in the report no charges were filed in the crash.
