KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A set of baseball fields in Farragut was renamed during a ceremony Wednesday after a legendary former Tennessee baseball player — Todd Helton.
In a release, Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs said the Farragut Youth Baseball Fields would be known as the "Todd Helton Baseball Complex" after Wednesday's ceremony. He said he would join Joe Mack, the county's parks and recreation department's senior director, in an honorary naming ceremony.
The ceremony recognized Helton's accomplishments on the field. After playing for Tennessee Baseball, he started playing for the Colorado Rockies in 1995, according to his page on Major League Baseball's website. Helton had also played football during his athletic career.
He found a spot in the MLB Hall of Fame in 2024, after earning four Silver Slugger awards and three Gold Gloves. He is from Knox County and graduated from Central High School.
Jacobs and Mack were joined by members of the Tennessee Baseball team. The newly-renamed Todd Helton Baseball Complex is located at 11705 South Northshore Drive.
