Tickets to next August's historic baseball game at Bristol Motor Speedway will go on sale Thursday morning, with a portion of receipts this month going to help Helene storm relief.
The Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds will play Aug. 2 at the track. It's the first time a Major League Baseball game has been played there.
The event formally is called MLB Speedway Classic presented by BuildSubmarines.com.
General public tickets can be purchased starting 10 a.m. Eastern time Thursday on the website MLB.com/SpeedwayClassic. A maximum of eight tickets are allowed per order. All ticket sales will be conducted online.
"All tickets will be delivered digitally and available on mobile devices through the MLB Ballpark app and the Ticketmaster app," according to an MLB announcement Wednesday.
Proceeds from ticket sales this month will be donated to the Appalachia Service Project and Mountain Ways. A total $50,000 commitment will be shared evenly between the two, according to MLB.
The remnants of Hurricane Helene devastated a broad swath of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina, destroying homes, taking lives and wiping out infrastructure.
Recovery efforts are ongoing.
