Deputy Director of Development Anne Wallace said the goal of this project is to preserve the areas history in the neighborhood and create a more walkable, green space.

"It's so exciting to see the renaissance of the Happy Holler and Downtown North and Uptown North area," Wallace said. "New businesses are deciding to locate here even before the completion of the streetscapes project."

What have crews been up to? They're replacing storm drains and constructing sidewalks, stamped crosswalks and new curbs.

Wallace said she believes large city investment projects like this set the stage for local and private investments within the community.

The entire cost of the project is $5.8 million, and if all goes as planned, it should be completed in the next eight months.
