TDOT: Construction on US 129, 'The Dragon,' could impact traffic on July 2

On Tuesday, crews will repair two parts of the road — one near Mile Marker 6 and another near Mile Marker 2.5.
The road runs between Tennessee and North Carolina. Crews are working to improve its pavement.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — People driving on part of U.S. 129, otherwise known as "The Dragon," may face traffic on Tuesday while crews work to repair two locations along the road.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said crews will be there repairing one location near Mile Marker 6. A little down the road, between Tabcat Creek and the North Carolina-Tennessee state line, crews will work on repairs to the road.

A release said flaggers will be in place and safety vehicles will direct drivers through the work zone. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the day on Tuesday.

However, TDOT said the schedule is contingent on weather conditions. It also encouraged drivers to stay vigilant of workers and use caution while navigating through work zones, leaving space for crews and keeping safety in mind.
