KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Thanksgiving is right around the corner! As families gather to celebrate, residents should note changes to garbage and recycling collection schedules.
Residential garbage and recycling collection will not occur in Knoxville on Thanksgiving. Waste Connections will operate Thursday routes on Friday and Friday routes on Saturday.
As for Waste Management users, you can check your personal pick-up schedule online.
Knoxville officials are reminding residents to limit trash to the contents of city-issued bins. Overflow trash or bins with lifted lids will not be collected.
Downtown garbage and recycling collection will also be suspended on Thanksgiving. The city's five recycling centers will remain open, but the Goodwill attendant will not be available for household goods donations on Thanksgiving.
Knoxville's Solid Waste Facility on Elm Street will be closed from Thursday until Monday, Dec. 2.
City of Knoxville offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, including the 311 and 211 service phone lines. Residents needing to report issues to 311 during the holiday weekend can use the My Knoxville app.
KAT buses will not run on Thanksgiving and the downtown station will be closed. On Friday, KAT will operate on a Sunday schedule with the customer service desk open from 8 a.m. to noon. Regular scheduling will resume on Saturday.
