Tennova Healthcare has laid off an unspecified number of people in management and support jobs at its three Knoxville hospitals.
A spokesperson for the company said the layoffs were not related to direct patient care, saying several department leadership roles were recently consolidated.
Tennova said the layoffs represented less than 1 percent of the Knoxville workforce.
"As part of our long-term planning, we have worked to identify opportunities for each individual and regret the impact on any who we were not able to place," Leigh Dunlap with Tennova's communications department said. "We are committed to strengthening our organization to serve the community for the future."
