It's Imagination Library Week in Tennessee. This week libraries across the state are celebrating Dolly Parton's book gifting program and its impact of kids in the volunteer state.
Knox County is celebrating the Imagination Library Week with special storytimes at library locations across the county. You can find times, locations and even descriptions fot those storytimes here.
Parton created Imagination Library in 1995 in her home county, Sevier County. According to the programs website, "Dolly’s vision was to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families by providing them with the gift of a specially selected book each month."
Now, the program mails over oen million free books every month to kids in the U.S., Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
