KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — UPDATE: One lane is back open on I-40 East in Knox County after a commercial vehicle fire near the Midway Road exit.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said Monday evening that I-40 East was closed in Knox County, near the Midway Road exit, after a commercial vehicle caught fire.
It said the fire was reported at around 9:18 p.m. Eastern Time, and the blaze backed up traffic past the exit. A spokesperson for the department, Mark Nagi, said on social media that the fire was reported at Mile Marker 402.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the truck was driving east when its driver saw fire underneath it. Its preliminary report said the truck was carrying plastic containers, and no injuries were reported.
