The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation announced Tuesday it will be extending its closure all 56 state parks and state-owned natural areas to the public that went into effect on Saturday, April 4.
The closure will remain in place beyond the original April 14 date in support of Governor Bill Lee's most recent extension of Stay at Home orders.
Tennessee State Parks did not say when they anticipate parks to reopen, but will be monitoring COVID-19 and will notify the public when they do so.
“We are grateful for the cooperation and understanding of Tennesseans during this difficult period,” Jim Bryson, deputy commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, said. “We are extending closure of the parks in the interest of safety for everyone.”
