TBI investigating after deputies shoot and kill armed man in Cumberland Co.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Tenn. — According to a release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, agents are continuing to investigate the circumstances of a deadly shooting overnight involving deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. 

TBI said the incident occurred early on Saturday morning at a home in the 100 block of Scott Creek Road in Crossville. Deputies responded to the house on a report of shots fired and found Rodolfo Daniel Lima, 22, armed with a handgun in the driveway. 

According to the release, authorities gave several commands for Lima to drop his weapon, but he refused. The situation escalated when Lima fired in the direction of the responding officers, resulting in at least one of the deputies then returning fire, the release said. The returned fire hit Lima and killed him, with now law enforcement officers hurt, TBI said. 

TBI is leading the investigation. This story will be updated when more information is available.
