KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On Friday at around 3 p.m., Tennessee Baseball will play against Evansville in the Super Regionals. As the team prepares for the series, businesses and fans across Knoxville are also getting ready and are getting excited.
At a North Knoxville brewery, managers said when the Vols do good — so does business. It offers a lawn that often turns into a sea of orange on big game days.
"We've got kids that are growing up here, coming to hang out with their families and watch sports. So, they're gonna have memories tied to this forever, hopefully. But yeah, I want the Vols to keep going and keep making those memories possible for our families to come visit us," said Charles Ellis, a general manager at the brewery.
Fans who moved to Knoxville have come to embrace the Vol orange.
"Even if you were not a fan, you'd have to just jump in and have fun," said Mary Thorpe. "One of the first things we did when we moved here was go out and get the Vols shirt to get in the swing of things."
Her husband, Bill Thorpe, said Vols games are best experienced out in the public.
"You walk in Market Square, like the other day when a football or baseball game was going on, and they score and you can hear the yelling and cheering outside. I mean, it was great," said Bill Thorpe.
Even though the Vols may be the top team in the country, many fans said it's the heart of the team that wins games.
Friday will mark the first matchup in a best-of-three series against Evansville.
