NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - A system failure forced the state to delay TNReady exams for students.

On Thursday, the state is expected to lay out a new timeline for testing.

In a message to teachers, officials say teachers can expect it to begin no later than Feb. 22.

The exams were supposed to begin Monday, but when students logged on, the system crashed within minutes.

Teachers, parents and students were frustrated after spending months preparing.

Education Commissioner Candice McQueen said they were aware of problems beforehand but she says Monday's failure was a new issue.

Measurement, Inc., was the state testing vendor, and now state officials say the company will pay to print paper tests.

McQueen says the state used Measurement, Inc., as a vendor a few years ago and they were familiar with company.
