Demolition of the old Baptist Hospital continues, but once again, developers are pushing back the date to tear it down.
Rhodes Seeger, a developer with Blanchard and Calhoun, says he hopes demolition crews finish their work by the end of January.
He said the demolition crews did experience some delays and the tear down took longer than expected. Originally, he hoped to finish the old hospital's demolition by September.
Next up, the demolition company will take down the old Vol Inn in February.
Once the hospital is no longer standing, Seeger says Blanchard and Calhoun can move forward with the Bridges at Riverside - a multi-use development with apartments, student housing, office space, and retail.
Seeger says he is working to get the necessary permits to begin construction. He hopes to break ground in March or April.
