UT's social media center finds engagement across the US with Tennessee Baseball's national title win

The Adam Brown Social Media Command Center said most mentions of "Tennessee" and "baseball" were positive during the College World Series championship game.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee found that people across the world engaged with the Vols' College World Series win in some way on social media.

The Adam Brown Social Media Command Center said whenever posts were made with the words "Tennessee" or "baseball," they were overwhelmingly positive — indicating that the College World Series was largely celebrated across the world. It also found that keywords like "Tony V," "best decision," and "go Vols," often appeared in posts about the College World Series games.

The command center also found that people across the U.S. engaged with the games in some way, making posts or liking posts made by other people. It also found people engaged with it in countries like the U.K. and Australia.

"It's a first. But then immediately, it kind of turned into, like a recruiting pitch where they're saying, 'Hiring Tony V. was the best decision ever.' And I noticed this too in my own feed. The Tennessee players, I guess they're graduating. So instead of being like, 'It's on to the majors, let's go!' They, like, turn around and gave back to the program," said Matthew Pittman, director of the social media command center.
