Human skeletal remains found in Jefferson County identified as missing Dandridge man

A cadaver dog was checking the area Friday near Sockless Road and found skeletal remains.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office authorities are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains Friday near Dandridge, though not within the city's limits. They said the remains had been identified on Aug. 19.

They said they were identified as of Robert Boling, 37, from Dandridge. Authorities said he had been reported missing on June 25, but was missing since May 27.

His family said he had previously been missing in 2015 but had later returned. So, they decided to wait before reporting him missing to JCSO, according to authorities.

The bones were found on Sockless Road, according to the Sheriff's Office. The road is west of Deep Springs Road, south of Interstate 40 and several miles north of Douglas Lake.

Deputies along with Criminal Investigation Division detectives and University of Tennessee forensic anthropologists were investigating.

"The Sheriff’s Office cadaver K-9 has been searching the area this morning," according to a Sheriff's Office notice.

Details about Boling's cause of death were not immediately available.
