An East Tennessee organization dedicated to help veterans held its 5th Annual Skeet and Trap Shoot competition in Oak Ridge.
Pull For Our Veterans held the competition to raise money for The Fisher House Foundation and Honor Air Knoxville. Some 120 shooters showed up at the Oak Ridge Sportsmen's Association over the weekend to shoot, as well as donate and bid on a silent auction.
The competition took place from Friday to Sunday, with specialized flights of local law enforcement and active duty service members getting fired up to spend the afternoon shooting.
"Some of these guys are former military and getting to shake their hand, learn their stories is just phenomenal," said PFOV staff member Bryson Maggard.
The organization set a fundraising goal of $40,000 for this year. Members said they expect to exceed that number.
Pull For Our Veterans is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to raising money for veterans and their families. For the past four years the organization raised money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Last year, the organization raised nearly $56,000 for the cause.
