Shoes for School" program. Each year the program provides tennis shoes and backpacks of supplies for children in need. More than 1, 000 boys and girls received this help Saturday at Caswell Park. "And we're so glad that other companies and volunteers understand that and that they come together the Saturday before school starts so that we can send kids back prepared, feeling good about themselves and ready to go back to school," said Phyllis Nichols of the Knoxville Urban League. The event also included games and refreshments. Over the last seven years, the program has given nearly 8, 000 pairs of shoes to those in need. />
