Chapman Highway reopens in Seymour after crews respond to structure fire

Crews said a structure caught fire at 13307 Chapman Highway Monday afternoon.

SEYMOUR, Tenn. — Crews in Seymour shut down Chapman Highway Monday evening to respond to a commercial structure fire, according to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area. The VFD said several county aid units responded.

The fire began at the old flea market at 13307 Chapman Highway Monday around 5 p.m., the VFD said. An hour later, it said a second fire had started in the woods behind the structure. Wildland fire crews responded to surround it.

The highway later reopened around 8 p.m.
