Visitors enjoy snow in the Smoky Mountains

Many visitors enjoy snow in the Smoky Mountains.

The Sugarland's Visitors Center in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was busy Friday as many came to enjoy the snow.

Many visitors from Florida, Alabama and Georgia say they rarely see snow, and when they do it's never like this.

"Very unusual for us. We've seen small snows throughout the years, maybe four or five times. But this is the most snow I've ever seen," said Carol Kelley from Florida.

Patricia Barnes, also from Florida, said her family stayed an extra day so they could see the snow.

"Our plans were to stay until Thursday, but we saw it was going to snow. So we stayed an extra day!" Barnes said.

Her 9-year-old grandson was busy making a snowman Friday afternoon before their Smokies vacation came to an end.

Sledding, snowball fights and making snow angels were popular activities around the visitor's center.

One visitor from Alabama told us he loves to see the snow in the Smokies, but he doesn't want it to follow him home.

"We love it! But we want to see it and leave," siad Tracy Hobbs.
