Dollywood confirmed a tram hit a 76-year-old employee Friday in the park's parking lot.

Pete Owens, Dollywood's director of public relations, said a passenger tram hit the 76-year-old at about noon while he was directing traffic around a second, stopped tram.

Owens said as a precaution LIFESTAR flew the man to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, but is expected to be okay. No visitors were hurt in the incident.

"We want to commend Dollywood's paramedics and first responders and the local emergency crews including the Pigeon Forge Police Department and Sevier County Ambulance Service for their rapid response and treatment during this incident," Gene Scherrer, Dollywood Vice-president and General Manager said in a statement. "It's a blessing our host was not more seriously injured. The safety of our guests and hosts is paramount and non-negotiable. We will find out what happened and work to prevent incidents like this in the future."

Dollywood said in a statement it's conducting an internal investigation to figure out what exactly happened.
