(WBIR) The National Park Service has named Cassius Cash, a Memphis native, as the new superintendent of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Cash will assume his new post starting in February. Former park superintendent Dale Ditmanson retired at the start of 2014 after more than three decades of working in the National Park Service.
Cash currently works as the superintendent for Boston National Historic Park and Boston African American National Historic Site. He began his federal career in 1991 with the U.S. Forest Service.
