Pigeon Forge will celebrate the grand opening of its massive new convention center on Wednesday, but 10News got a sneak peak of the LeConte Center on Tuesday.

The 232-000 square foot facility is designed to hold large assemblies, trade shows and competitive events. The LeConte Hall includes seating for more than 12,000 people.

The Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism also moved its offices over to the center.

Leaders are excited about the growth opportunities and revenue the center is expected to bring in.

"You're going to see continued development around the center because of this anchor, this magnet. It's going to bring in larger groups than can be accommodated anywhere else in the community, and pushing all those people back out into the community to spend their hard-earned dollars and have fun in Pigeon Forge," said Leon Downey, Pigeon Forge Tourism Executive Director.

The National Quartet Convention was the first major event booked at the new center. It's scheduled for next September.
