The Mountain Home VA medical center hosted an open house Thursday evening.
The center currently serves about 2,400 veterans, but about 7,000 more live in the area and don't use VA services. The goal was to educate those veterans about the opportunities available to them.
The VA clinic used to be the site of the Fort Sanders Hospital. Before it was converted to a VA clinic in 2012, veterans in the area had to travel at least 45 minutes to see a doctor with the VA.
