SPD arrests three people after SWAT standoff at Ridge Road home

According to Sevierville Police, officials attempted to serve warrants since 11 a.m. on Sunday.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — The Sevierville Police Department reopened Ridge Road after SWAT responded to a standoff in the area.

Sevierville Police spokesperson Bob Stahlke said just after 11 a.m., officers attempted to serve warrants to three people at a home on Ridge Road, but they refused to surrender. SPD then called SWAT for backup. 

According to SPD, officers were told there were two elderly people inside the home in addition to the three wanted suspects inside. Officers were able to convince one of the two elderly residents to exit and learned the other was wheelchair-bound and unable to leave on their own. SWAT was able to enter the home and remove the person.

SPD said one of the three suspects inside the home surrendered after several hours of negotiating and deploying chemical munitions after the two elderly residents were out of the home. SWAT officers entered the home and arrested the other two around 3:35 p.m.

The individuals that were served warrants were Bobbie Leathe Gibson, 47, Amber Gail Huggins, 46, and Jonathan Earl Pope, 28. All three were charged with evading arrest.

Gibson was charged with the following:

  • Driving while license was suspended
  • Obedience to any required traffic control device
  • Criminal impersonation (two counts)
  • Delivery, sell and possession with intent of meth
  • Simple possession
  • Assault on first responder
  • Evading arrest
  • Resist arrest
  • Impersonate licenses professional
  • Forgery

Huggin was charged with false reports and Pope was charged with violating his probation, according to the warrants. 

Ridge Road reopened around 5 p.m. Sunday.
