TWRA: 51-year-old Powell resident dies after boating crash on Norris Lake

Six out of the 10 people on the boat were hurt, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

POWELL, Tenn. — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency confirmed a 51-year-old has died from injuries he sustained in a boating crash on Norris Lake. 

Ralph Miller, a Powell resident, was operating a boat with 10 people on board when he hit an exposed rock near the Cove Creek area shoreline around 10 p.m. on Friday, July 26, according to the TWRA. 

Six people were hurt in the crash. Two were life-flighted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, the TWRA said.

The Campbell County Emergency Service, the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, the Campbell County Rescue Squad and  Campbell County Fire Department personnel also responded to the crash, according to the TWRA. 

This is the fourteenth boating-related death in Tennessee this year. The crash remains under investigation, the TWRA said.
