TBI investigating after another inmate dies in Campbell County Jail

This is the second inmate to die in the Campbell County Jail in less than two weeks.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said agents are investigating the death of a 26-year-old inmate at the Campbell County Jail.

The inmate, Faith Evans, died on Monday morning, according to the TBI.

The TBI said another Campbell County Jail inmate, Gary Wayne Burriss, died in the jail on April 19.

According to the Campbell County Sheriff's Office,  the TBI investigations revealed both Evans and Burriss had preexisting medical conditions before they were detained.

"It's vital to note that these conditions were not caused by any action or negligence on the part of our dedicated employees at the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, nor were they related to an overdose," CCSO said. "Please continue to pray for these families."
