Santa sleighs through Seymour on a fire truck for the 45th year

In Seymour, Santa's sleigh has four wheels and a siren.

Before Santa Clause left the North Pole to deliver gifts on Christmas Eve, he took a quick spin around Seymour on a modified sleigh.

Fire truck sirens are a good sign in Seymour on Christmas Eve, because they mean Santa is coming down the street.

Every year, the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department turns its trucks over to Santa and his elves to spread joy and fire safety tips throughout the town.

"We have eight sleighs on the road delivering little fire service messages and a little bitty gift bag with a piece of candy that some elves wrapped months ago," Fire Chief John Linsenbigler said.

This is the 45th year the department has helped out Santa, and his trips through Seymour keep getting longer as more kids come outside to say hello.

"We plan gifts for about 350 kids, but we saw 900 last year, and with the weather this nice we're hoping to hit that goal again," said Linsenbigler.

The truck sleighs made their rounds with auxiliary reindeer trucks ready to break away if anyone needed the fire department's help.

Kids were ecstatic to see Santa, making it a good night for all... and for all, a good night.

And don't worry. His trip around Seymour this evening won't delay Santa from delivering gifts to the rest of the world!
