ROCKWOOD, Tenn. — A new low-cost spay and neuter clinic is now open in Rockwood after a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Monday.
The Roane County Animal Shelter held the ceremony at 11 a.m. at 296 Manufacturer's Road in Rockwood.
According to Young Williams Animal Shelter, spaying and neutering pets help them to live longer and healthier by eliminating certain health and behavior problems.
"Spaying or neutering also prevents unwanted litters and reduces pet overpopulation in the community," the animal center said.
The center also said that pets aged 6 months and older should not have anything to eat after 10 p.m. the night before surgery. However, a puppy or kitten under 6 months old could have a small breakfast before the procedure, Young Williams said.
